Portfolio FAQ

Miranda Wright has been making photographs since she first mixed up a Kodak Tri-Chem-Pak and developed prints from her Brownie camera in sixth grade. Eventually she moved up to 35mm, moved her Beseler enlarger into the family bathroom and learned how to make enlargements. The darkroom soon outgrew the bathroom and it moved into the basement. Her father helped build a wall that included a double door so that a person could enter and leave the darkroom without any light drifting in to ruin the pictures.

Along the way, she has used 6x7mm medium format and even 4x5 inch large format camera to produce images in black and white, and color, of breaking news, sporting events, magazine articles and covers, and celebrity portraits. And that is how she found her true love: making images of people.

For many years Miranda was a self-confessed "film snob." "Digital is a toy," she thought, "and it will be a long time before it can measure up to film." However, the technology advanced much more quickly than Miranda, or anyone, expected and it is now possible to capture beautiful images with a digital SLR camera.

Miranda shoots almost exclusively digital for portraits these days, but if you want a photo that can be enlarged to huge proportions, she'll be happy to break out the Mamiya 6x7 for you.

Working both alone or in conjunction with TC Productions, she has photographed models, drag performers, the guys and girls next door, and of course people like you and me, everyday TG's (among whom Miranda counts herself).

Her images have graced the covers of LadyLike magazine and Transgender Community News and covered many events for LadyLike, including the Henri David Halloween Ball and the Philadelphia appearance of Alexis Arquette.

Miranda will be working with Amanda Richards of True Colors Makeup Artistry at the 2007 Southern Comfort Conference in Atlanta, GA where they will collaborate to provide makeup, transformations, and glamour & portrait photography..

Miranda Wright is a member of the Board of Directors of Renaissance National.
